Winter Concert Reflections!

Check out concert reflections from our members below!

I very much enjoyed the band winter Concert. I thought the opening performance was interesting—prior to this concert, I had never heard an entirely percussion ensemble perform. This group had a powerful sound that was able to make a lasting impression on me. I was surprised at how professional concert band looked, as everyone in concert band looked incredibly experienced despite being freshmen. I enjoyed seeing some friends in symphonic band perform. I liked the Wind 1 and Wind 2 performances because of their repertoire selection: I enjoyed the singing during Wind 2's performance and the various solos in Wind 1's performance.

I really enjoyed listening to the jazz concert! Even though I play an instrument in jazz band, this was actually my first time attending a school jazz concert. When the first note began, I was surprised at how loud it was. I noticed that there are mics everywhere on stage. I really enjoyed the solos throughout the concert. I also like the unique style of the way jazz concerts are run. I was surprised to see Mr. Burn walk off stage after giving the countoff and everyone just grooving together to keep the music going. Overall, I’d definitely like to attend again!

I’ve never been to a regular band performance before but I feel as though it is very similar to orchestra performances, yet also very different. Something I really liked about the performance was there very strong intonation and togetherness. Another thing that I really enjoyed was the large range of instruments. Compared to orchestra there is a huge variety of sound and specialty of each instrument. Like the uniqueness of the many percussion instruments, I could really feel the emotion that they put into their playing. Overall I really enjoyed the entirety of the concert, I find the selection of pieces very enjoyable and look forward to the next performance.
